In my studies, I often come across references to Seth Godin. While I do read a lot, I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t read any of his books until now. Yesterday I was at the bookstore and his book Tribes, jumped out at me. I’ve heard many references to the book lately in interviews of different leaders in our industry.
If you’re looking for a 5-step plan of how to build a million followers on Twitter, this is not the book for you. Godin is a genius when it comes to using stories to massage the mind of readers inspiring new ideas and actions to be the “unicorn in the balloon factory” and demolish the status quo of mediocrity.
Leadership is about stepping forward and not just preaching to followers, but interacting with them and growing together with them, for the good of the group.
At just under 150 pages, Tribes is a quick read, and one that I highly recommend.
