“I Can Be What I Will To Be”

Today I’m contemplating an affirmation from part 4 of Haanel’s Master Key System:

“I can be what I will to be.”

On the surface this can sound like a cliche` statement that you would read on the back of a high school sports team’s practice shirts.  However, there is much more to it on further examination.

Haanel starts off the lesson saying that the “I” is not the body or the mind, but the spirit, or the sould that controls all that we do.  The “I” is what connects all of us together.

This morning I enjoyed a beautiful walk in the shores of Lake Michigan, watching the sun rise.  There is no better feeling than watching the sun rise over a calm lake on a cool fall morning.  As I walked on the beach, I was reminded that there have probably been many thousands of people who have walked that same path along the edge of where the waves reached their highest point in the sand, however the wind and the water have erased any sign that anyone else had been there.  Even though all of those people had taken that same path, nobody had come along the path from the same background and perspective that I have nor are they continuing on the same path that I am going.

While we may share paths with others now and then, it is important to remember and stay focused on your own path or vision.  What are you “willing to be?”
